Box Info
The Nature Curious Box is a quarterly subscription box filled with seasonal nature activities for children aged 4 to 8. Each box contains 12 or more activity sheets designed to encourage outdoor exploration, learning about UK wildlife, and taking eco-friendly and conservation-focused actions as a family.
At Buttercup Learning, we’re committed to ensuring that all activities in the box positively impact the environment. Our packaging follows strict sustainability principles:
- We only work with suppliers who share our eco-friendly values.
- All packaging is 100% recyclable.
- Our branded washi tape is made from rice paper, free from toxic adhesives, printed with vegan soy inks, and is home and commercially compostable (decomposes in 180 and 90 days, respectively). It can also be curbside recycled.
- Our letterboxes are supplied by Priory Direct, a B Corp-certified UK company, and are made from recycled materials. They are also recyclable and reusable.
- The yellow tissue paper is biodegradable, recyclable, and reusable—perfect for crafts or gift wrapping. Share your upcycled ideas on social media for a chance to win prizes.
- Our stickers are plastic-free and compostable (though they take longer to break down than food waste). The backing paper is recyclable.
- Nature activity sheets are printed on FSC-certified paper and made to order. Our printer operates under ISO 14001 Environmental accreditation, ships in recycled cardboard boxes, and uses sustainable inks.
The boxes are designed for children aged 4 to 8. To reduce the risk of paper cuts, all activity sheet corners are rounded.
Some Children aged 7 and up will be able to read the activity sheets independently, with some support for scientific words. Younger children may need help reading the instructions. We recommend adult supervision for outdoor foraging and craft activities.
A sibling box contains double the number of activity sheets, allowing multiple children to complete the activities without sharing.
Our activities are designed to be low-cost and simple. Craft activities use natural materials, household recycling, and basic art supplies that most families already have. We try to ensure any extras are cost effective.
No. Our content follows a four-year cycle, ensuring a variety of new activities each year.
Yes. Many activities can be adapted for balconies, window boxes, and visits to local parks.
Managing Subscriptions
A solo box costs £20. A sibling box costs £25. The price includes postage and packaging.
All subscriptions are set to automatically renew. However, you have complete control. You can pause or cancel your quarterly subscription at any time. At the end of an annual subscription, you can pause or cancel your subscription.
Your first payment is taken immediately for both annual and quarterly subscriptions.
Yes. Visit the Past Boxes section on our website to order individual boxes.
Yes. You can cancel anytime via your account dashboard. If you forget your login details, contact support@buttercuplearning.com. To avoid being charged for the next box, cancel before your next quarter installment is due.
Annual subscriptions: Cancelling prevents auto-renewal, but does not refund or cancel any boxes already paid for.
Yes. Log into your account to pause your subscription if you don’t want a box delivered that quarter. To skip a quarter, pause before the 17th of the month prior to the next renewal.
You can update your details in your account. Changes need to be made by the 17th of each month to ensure that your box is delivered to the correct address and payment can be taken for subscriptions.
For annual subscriptions, if you require a refund, contact naturecurious@buttercuplearning.com. We will deduct £20 per box received and refund the remainder. You must cancel before the 17th of the month to avoid receiving and being charged for your next box.
Returns: Unopened boxes can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund, excluding shipping costs.
Gifting Nature Curious
Yes. You can purchase a one-time gift box or a set of two or four boxes without a subscription. Add a personalised gift message at checkout to be included in the first box.
Shipping
We currently ship within the UK. International customers can explore a digital download option of our nature curious digital packs.
Shipping is free on all UK box orders.
Email support@buttercuplearning.com and we will contact our couriers and/or post office to track your order.
If you receive a faulty or incomplete box, contact support@buttercuplearning.com within 30 days. Please include your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or videos if possible.
We will offer a refund or replacement, including return postage if applicable.
AR
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that blends physical and virtual experiences. Using a smartphone or tablet, children can bring nature illustrations in our books to life through animations, videos, sound files, and interactive elements.
AR makes learning more engaging and interactive. Multi-sensory learning can improve knowledge retention.
