Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy
Effective date: 19 June 2026
This policy explains how returns, refunds and cancellations work for Buttercup Learning products.
Different products are handled in different ways:
Buttercup direct products, including Nature Curious boxes, are handled by Buttercup Learning.
Teemill products, including print-on-demand nature prints, mugs, jigsaws, stickers and apparel, are fulfilled and handled through Teemill.
Digital products, downloads, gift cards and other non-returnable products have separate rules, explained below.
This policy does not affect your statutory rights.

- Buttercup direct products
Buttercup direct products include Nature Curious boxes and any other physical products sent directly by Buttercup Learning.
If you change your mind
If you change your mind about a Buttercup direct physical product bought online, you have 14 days from the day after you receive your order to tell us you want to cancel or return it.
After you tell us you want to return the product, you then have 14 days to send it back to us.
To request a return, email info@buttercuplearning.com.
Returned items must be:
Unused
In their original condition
In their original packaging, or similar protective packaging
Complete, with all included items, sheets, inserts and materials returned
We cannot accept change-of-mind returns for items which have been used, written on, opened in a way which affects resale, damaged, or returned incomplete.
You are responsible for the cost of return postage unless the item is faulty, damaged, or we made an error with your order.
Please obtain proof of postage. We cannot refund items we do not receive unless you provide evidence that you returned them.
If you are returning an item with a higher value, we recommend using a tracked service or suitable postal insurance.
- Products we cannot accept as change-of-mind returns
We cannot accept change-of-mind returns for:
Digital downloads once the download has started or access has been provided
Gift cards
Products made to your specification or personalised for you
Items which have been used, written on, damaged or returned incomplete
Items which are no longer in a resaleable condition
Opened activity boxes where sheets, materials or packaging have been used or damaged
Colouring books or activity books which have been used, marked, opened in a way which affects resale, or damaged
This does not affect your rights if a product is faulty, damaged, not as described, or not fit for purpose.
- Digital downloads and digital products
Digital downloads and digital products are delivered electronically.
When you buy a digital download or digital product, you may be asked to agree that the download or access starts straight away.
If you agree to immediate access, you lose your right to cancel once the download has started or access has been provided, unless the digital product is faulty.
If you have a problem with a digital product, please contact info@buttercuplearning.com and explain the issue.
- Refunds for Buttercup direct returns
Once we receive your returned item, we will check it.
If the return meets this policy, we will refund you using your original payment method.
We will process refunds within 14 days of receiving the returned item, or within 14 days of receiving evidence that you have sent the item back, whichever is earlier.
Your refund will cover the cost of the returned goods and the standard delivery cost where this applies under UK consumer law.
If you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard delivery option, we do not have to refund the extra delivery cost.
Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty, damaged, or we made an error with your order.
Where a discount was applied to your original order, the refund will reflect the price you paid after the discount.
Your bank or payment provider may take extra time to show the refund in your account.
- Faulty, damaged or incorrect Buttercup direct products
If your item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, not as described, or not fit for purpose, contact info@buttercuplearning.com as soon as possible.
Please include:
Your order number
A description of the problem
Photos or videos where possible
If the item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, not as described, or not fit for purpose, we will offer an appropriate solution. This may include a refund, replacement, repair, missing item being sent, or another suitable resolution.
If you tell us about a faulty item within 30 days of receiving it, you may be entitled to reject the item and receive a refund.
If we ask you to return a faulty, damaged or incorrect item, we will cover reasonable return postage costs.
We may refuse a refund or replacement where the item has been damaged through misuse, neglect, accidental damage after delivery, or unauthorised repair.
- Cancelling a Buttercup direct order before dispatch
If you want to cancel an order before it has been dispatched, email info@buttercuplearning.com as soon as possible.
We aim to process orders promptly, so we cannot guarantee cancellation once your order has been placed.
If your order has already been dispatched, you can follow the returns process once you receive it.
- Nature Curious subscriptions
If you want to cancel a Nature Curious subscription, contact naturecurious@buttercuplearning.com.
If you have already paid for a box before cancelling, you will still receive that box unless we confirm cancellation before it has been processed.
If you do not want to receive your next subscription box, please cancel before the 17th of the month.
If you request a refund for a subscription plan where you have already received one or more boxes, we will charge the boxes you have received at the standard box rate and refund any remaining balance where applicable.
Refunds will be made to your original payment method.
- Teemill products
Teemill products include print-on-demand nature prints, mugs, jigsaws, stickers, apparel and other Teemill store products.
These products are produced, fulfilled and delivered by Teemill.
If you need to return a Teemill product, please use the returns link in your confirmation email or dispatch email.
Teemill states that customers may cancel or return products from within the UK up until 28 days after dispatch. For further support, please use Teemill’s returns process or contact Teemill support through the details provided in your order emails.
Unless defective, Teemill may not accept returns of custom products, sample orders, washed items, worn items, or products not returned in a suitable condition.
If your Teemill item is faulty, damaged or incorrect, follow the Teemill returns process and provide photos or details of the issue.
- International orders
For international orders, delivery times, customs duties, taxes and return processes may vary depending on the destination and fulfilment provider.
You are responsible for any customs charges, import duties or local taxes unless stated otherwise.
Customs charges, import duties and local taxes are usually not refundable by Buttercup Learning. You may be able to contact your local customs office about possible refunds.
- Lost returns
Please keep proof of postage when returning items.
We cannot refund a returned item we do not receive unless you provide evidence that you sent it back.
