Get outdoors and get creative with the kids this March – do some nature crafts!
Go to your local park, beach or woods, gather fallen twigs, leaves, stones and pine cones from the ground, then start creating!
Here’s 7 of our favourite things to make…
Nature Art

Make pictures using twigs, leaves, stones and acorns! Simply lay them down on the lawn or forest floor and see what patterns and images you can create.
Weaving

An ancient spiritual practice originating in Mexican, Peruvian and Latin American communities, ‘God’s Eye’ weaving produces colourful woven squares by tying two crossing twigs together, then weaving in and out, starting in the centre.
Pine Cone Hedgehog
Make a cone using a piece of rolled up paper or card, glue it to the base of a pine cone, draw on some nose and eyes and…voila – you have a nature craft hedgehog!
Wind chime / Mobile
Wind chime from C.S Mott Children’s hospital
These can be created using just twigs, pine cones and thread. They’ll look beautiful in your living room or hanging from a tree in the garden!
Leaf Rubbing

Create beautiful rubbings of leaf skeletons by placing a piece of paper over a selection of leaves them rubbing coloured crayons (side down) over the top!
Painted Twigs

These look beautiful in a vase or on the mantelpiece. Try using eco-friendly earth paint instead of acrylic in your nature crafts!
Pebble Decoration
Gather pebbles with holes through them from your local beach. Then thread them through some garden twine or ribbon to create a beautiful hanging decoration!
And that’s the wrap! If you have any more nature craft suggestions, let us know via our Instagram page!
